Ramen is considered the ultimate Asian comfort food, and Kennesaw’s Boru Ramen and Poke Bar does it right.
Less than a ten minute drive from campus, nestled between a men’s apparel store and a waxing salon, sits a small eatery that feels cool the moment you walk in. Hand-drawn chalkboard menus, an open kitchen wafting smells and flavors across the tables, and an always-friendly staff make up Boru Ramen and Poke Bar.
Boru has a limited menu, but the customization it allows makes for a unique dish every time. The Boru Original Ramen includes scallions, pork belly, boiled egg, bamboo shoots and a fish cake. It’s also so good that you’ll never settle for cheap microwave ramen again. Boru also offers spicy ramen, vegetable ramen and “build your own” as other options.
If ramen isn’t your thing or it’s just too hot outside, the customizable poke bowls are just as delicious. You choose how many proteins, the type of rice, and any extras or sauces to add. They mix it all up and give you a delicious bowl that rivals any sushi you can find in the Kennesaw area.
Boru also boasts pretty affordable prices for the quality of food they offer. The ramen starts at $11.99, and the poke bowls start at $8.99 for two proteins. Every single time I went I spent less than $15 and was barely able to finish what I ordered!
The only downfall is that Boru isn’t open late: they close at 9 every night. But they are still perfect for a cram session or chilly day meal, and they deliver via GrubHub and DoorDash.
