New Decade, New Year, New Fashion

Now that all the fun of the holidays have passed, it is time to regroup and focus on the new and exciting year ahead. This new year comes with some stunning fashion trends that if you choose to follow, can completely change up your style and wardrobe. Based off some of the top fashion shows from the Spring 2020 season, certain styles have emerged to be named the top trends of 2020. I will be compiling a list of some of the most obtainable trends to help you be at the top of your fashion game

Sleeves

This is one of my personal favorite “up and coming” trends of 2020. Fun sleeves are a huge hit on all of the current runways shows. From dramatic and voluptuous to off-the-shoulder, nothing is off limits when it comes to this trend. Many runway shows are showcasing dresses with short, billowy sleeves that fall right at the elbow. This adds a dramatic yet effortless look to the design. This a very simple way to add some extravagance to any outfit. This idea of a “dramatic sleeve” can make a simple pair of jeans and booties look “red carpet” ready. If the super dramatic sleeve is not your thing, that’s okay. A light, off the shoulder top with long, flowy sleeves, might be more your style, and also falls perfectly into this trend.

Polka Dots

The most popular print of the year will definitely be polka dots. This print has been around for decades and has become known as a “classic print”. If you are not a person who likes to experiment with crazy or super dramatic prints, polka dots are a great way to incorporate pattern into your wardrobe. It is a simple and classy way to make any outfit more trendy. If you do not want to go out in a full polka dot dress, you can tone it down with a polka dot shirt or a flowy polka dot skirt. This print comes in many different colors, so just pick out whatever flatters you.

Light Yellow

Yellow is the color that has taken over the fashion world in the Spring 2020 fashion shows. Whether it be in a shirt, pant, skirt, dress, etc, this color looks stunning on all skin tones. This color is perfect with any outfit when the spring and summer seasons come around. It gives off a warm aura and definitely brings out any tan or color in your skin. Light yellow also pairs great with gold accessories or with other primary colors. Be sure to pick up a great light yellow outfit piece to bring out the spring/summer feeling.

Sequins & Sparkles

Next comes all things glittery! If any of you tuned into the Golden Globes red carpet, it was very obvious that sequins were the star of the show. Whether it was a simple and minimalistic sparkle or an all-out sequin filled gown, sparkle definitely was a part of everyone’s look. While seeing celebrities wearing fashion trends that you want to adopt might seem intimidating, this new trend is actually simple to pull off! If you have any semi-formal/formal occasions coming up, adding some sparkle can definitely be the way to go. A simple dress covered in sequins is a great way to make a statement. Or, if you want to balance it out, you might want to try a skirt with sequins and a simple top. Any of these options are a great way to stay on top of the fashion game and be trendy.

Blazers

A blazer is the perfect way to give a sense of chicness to any look. On the runways for this season’s fashion, we can see blazers in almost every show. These blazers tend to be larger and boxier than your typical “business casual” blazer. These ones were paired with a number of different pieces that incorporate the blazer into the warmer months. Pairing it with a cute bralette or a light weight shirt can bring a new and cool way to wear it. This is a great way to make your style this season feel more fresh.

Trends will constantly change throughout the years. You never know when a certain style or trend will be considered cool or when it will be considered “out”. While it is hard to predict what will happen in the world of fashion, it is important to embrace the trends of the time. With this new decade that is filled with some amazing and fashionable choices, there is something for everyone to try. Be sure to use the list above as a guideline and then insert some of your own personal style to make 2020 the best year yet!
