Video Games to Be on the Lookout for in 2017

Are you getting tired of your unchanging video game collection? Game developers are hard at work, pushing their creative limits as another year brings the release of the latest graphics and story lines.

Here are five video games you should be on the lookout for year:

1. Visage

Visage is an independent survival horror game that, rather than being full of jump-scares, is more psychological in nature. The player walks around a large house, set in the 1980s, reliving the experiences and deaths of the families who previously lived there. One fan donated $8,000 to the Kickstarter project, on the condition that he appear as a ghost in the game. The developers agreed, and the audience can expect to be terrified by him.

Expected release date: Q2 2017

Available on: Xbox One, PS4, PC

2. Nier: Automata

In this action role-playing game, the player assumes the role of an android. You are fighting in a war on Earth against the machines who drove all humans from the planet, forcing them to live on the moon. Nier: Automata features an open world, complete with quests, combat, exploration, and high-quality graphics.

Release date: February 23, 2017

Available on: PS4, Microsoft Windows

3. Spider-Man

This upcoming game is a collaboration between Marvel and Insomniac Games. This was one of my favorite superheroes as a child, but this game supposedly has a completely new story. The protagonist is an older Peter Parker who has to balance crime-fighting with his personal life in New York City.

Expected release date: TBA 2017

Available on: PS4

4. Overkill’s The Walking Dead

This game is a cooperative first-person shooter based on AMC’s The Walking Dead television show. It will include various elements such as roleplay, new storylines, and characters, and is expected to follow the Walking Dead plot of surviving in a zombie-infested post-apocalyptic world.

Expected release date: TBA 2017

Available on: Xbox One, PS4, PC

5. Cyberpunk 2077

This open world RPG from the creators of Witcher 3 is set in the year 2077 in the fictional Night City, located between San Francisco and Los Angeles. Although a 2017 release is unlikely, this futuristic game is worth keeping an eye on.

Expected release date: “Coming when it’s ready.”

Available on: Xbox One, PS4, Microsoft Windows
