The Top 6 Most Emotional Music Videos

There’s a lot of work that goes into making music. You first have to figure out the message you’re trying to send, then you spend countless hours creating it, and then spend more countless hours perfecting and recording it. But I think one of the most underrated and most important aspects of a song are the music videos. Not only can they add completely new layers to a song, but they can completely change your mood. Here’s a list of masterpieces sure to change your day.

  1. “Downtown” by Macklemore

I have watched this video at least a dozen times, and each time I play it I see something new that makes me laugh. Every scene is eye-catching and completely over-the-top; from the outfits, to the props, to the choreography – it’s a work of art.

  1. “Save the World” by Swedish House Mafia

This video made me cry – but in a good way? The video was completely unexpected and full of the cutest dogs who go off to save the world. It was heart-wrenchingly adorable.

  1. “Genghis Khan” by Miike Snow

I originally thought that this song was creepy. To me, Genghis Khan has connotations of mass murder, rage issues, and a lot of forced sexual situations. This music video made me change my mind. Whoever thought to mix James Bond and ballet is a genius. Miike Snow really puts the “gay” in GAYnghis Khan with this video.

  1. “Love the Way You Move” by Slightly Left of Centre

The only thing that the music video and song share is the love of sick moves. This animated production pays homage to Mother Russia, and the need for Communistic Funk (a phrase soon to be copyrighted by me).

  1. “Wrong Side of Heaven” by Five Finger Death Punch

Warning: this song packs more of a punch alongside the video than the others do. Five Finger Death Punch punched me in the gut with the stories of veterans. The song’s message is about the grey areas of life choices. Coupled with scenes of war, the band tries hard to disillusion the viewers about the battlefield.

  1. “Never Gonna Give You Up” by Rick Astley

Because no song has ever mixed betrayal, nostalgia, and hilarity so well. Get rickrolled.
