Dirty Birds: Playoff Fever

It’s that time of year again, people! Beer is in the cooler and football is in the air. Some of the world’s biggest and strongest people will come together to ram into each other at full speed. Exciting, right? Energized crowds will come together to admire these athletes and show pride for their team and city.

Football this year has definitely been strange and interesting to watch. One of the best games of the year will be the college football championships. This year’s game featured Clemson vs Alabama. If you are a fan, you probably noticed that people were either die-hard Alabama fans or they despised the entire program. Clemson definitely picked up the fans who hate Alabama, and also the ones who are tired of the same team winning every year. Both teams were very good. This game was truly entertaining to watch, and it was even better when the Clemson Tigers came out on top.

The NFL did not disappoint either this year, as the teams fought for every yard in order to have the possibility of reaching the playoffs and taking home gold. This year was unconventional, as neither AFC nor NFC champions returned to the championship game, or even to the playoffs. This year is up for grabs, with high-octane offenses and lock-down defenses making the playoffs unpredictable.

The biggest story has undoubtedly been that of the Atlanta Falcons. The Falcons are having an incredible year in the regular season, even shaking off the playoff rut that they have been in for the past few years. With Matt Ryan’s record-breaking season and the defense locking down the other team, they have finished the regular season second only to the Dallas Cowboys. Both Dallas and Atlanta had bye weeks for the first week of the playoffs. Dallas seemed to have lost themselves over the week-long break, while the Falcons did not miss a step against the Seattle Seahawks, beating them 36-20.

No one was expecting this outing from the Falcons in the regular season, and no one expected a strong playoff game from our hometown heroes. The Falcons are now the top seed in the playoffs, and will host the Green Bay Packers on Sunday, January 22nd. Go show your support for the Atlanta Falcons by tuning into the game with some friends to watch the Falcons make history.
