The Braves suck: this statement in itself is an understatement. The 4-15 Braves can’t pitch, can’t hit, can’t play defense, and can’t run the bases. The Braves haven’t won a game in a week, and have averaged an abysmal 1.8 runs a game in this six-game skid that they suffered through. Sometimes teams are just bad and there is no rhyme or reason for it, but Braves Country should be optimistic and patient. The Braves are tanking and rebuilding. In the past two seasons, the Braves have been acquiring draft picks and salary cap space for a bright future at the new SunTrust Park.
In short, the Braves are being bad on purpose. This year’s Braves team is on pace to win just over 40 games; as bad as that sounds, this will allow the Braves to acquire not only more draft picks, but higher quality ones as well. Also, because of the salary cap space that the Braves have right now, they could be big players in free agency as talent circulates through the league.
The Braves are set to risk it all in the next few years, as they are currently developing new, young talent. The old guard of the late 90s and the better part of the 21st century have long since retired, which have somewhat forced the Atlanta Braves to start from scratch yet again. The only thing I can think of to help fans of the Atlanta Braves is to be patient and to remember that, while they might be rock bottom now, the only direction the Braves can go now is up.
