“In a world overrun by mice, one cat stands alone. Defy the impawssible.”
Instead of watching cat videos on the Internet, why not become a virtual one? It’s getting close to the end of the year, and seniors are busy putting together their Capstone Projects, the final step before their graduation. One project in particular appeals to every type of person – even the most hardcore of dog lovers. Daniel Gibson and Kyle Tallant have created a mobile app, Whiskers, which will debut at the Kennesaw State University Spring Capstone Exhibition. In the game, you play as a cat and travel to different towns, chasing mice through each level. This simple, yet creative game is addicting for pet lovers and gamers alike. Its official release date is March 21st, 2017, during the opening week of the Exhibition, but you can try out the beta for Android now.
Creating Whiskers is not the only thing Gibson and Tallant have collaborated on: the two have been making things together since the first grade. After 17 years of friendship, the two found their niche in film and game development and created their own company, Earring Prank Studios. They have created two commercials aired through Comcast: one for a private ophthalmologist office, and one for Ben’s Brands for Less in Douglasville. They are currently in the midst of finalizing a short documentary called “Unholy Fire,” which is about the Audiofeed Festival in Illinois. It is set to premiere during this year’s Festival.
Another huge project they are working on is a game called Zoo: The Zoological Society. In this game, you act as a manager of a zoo. You are in charge of building and arranging new exhibits, and ensuring the general upkeep of the zoo. The game will be available when they launch their Kickstarter campaign mid-summer of this year. For updates on Zoo, follow their Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram pages.
If you want to check out Whiskers, as well as countless other projects by Kennesaw’s very own, visit the Spring Capstone Exhibition the week of March 21st through April 13th. The reception will be held March 27th from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the Fine Arts Gallery in the Wilson Building on the Kennesaw Campus.
