It’s that time of year again: ghost stories, candy, and haunted houses. I’ve put together a list of five local haunted houses that are a must-see this year. The best part about this list is that all of these haunted attractions are inexpensive and totally worth it if you like being scared. Now, this list is in no particular order, because all of these attractions are pretty awesome. All of the haunted attractions are located around the metro Atlanta area. So, in the spirit of the holiday, let’s get started.
- 13 Stories Haunted House
Location: 320 Temple Ave., Newnan, GA 30263
Pricing: $17 – $45
Dates: September 23 – November 5
Hours of Operation: 7:00 p.m. – Midnight
13 Stories has six attractions, one of which requires you to sign a waiver because it is so scary. The attractions include: Apocalypse Zombie Kill Experience, 13 Stories Haunted House, Ward B, Zombie Alley, Clown Haus, and Sacrifice (this is the one that requires a waiver). 13 Stories is all indoors, so, rain or shine, the spooky show will go on. The tickets are non-refundable once you purchase them. Unlike what you may have heard if you make it through this haunted house you get your money back. That is wrong.

- Netherworld
Location: 6624 Dawson Blvd., Norcross, GA 30093
Pricing: $20 – $55
Dates: September 23 – October 31, November 4 & 5
Hours of Operation: 7:30 p.m. – 10:30 p.m. (Sunday – Thursday) / 7:00 p.m. – Midnight (Friday & Saturday)
To celebrate their 20th anniversary, Netherworld has opened a new attraction, “Monsters,” which features: the Flying Angel, the Lair of the Sea Witch, the Feasting Vampires, the Goloth Invasion, the Attacking Harpy, the Transformation Chamber, the Cavern of the Werewolves, the Blood Beast of the Arena, the Boogeyman’s Return, the Chapel of the Gargoyles, the Cyclopean Soul Eater, and the Doom Stone Unearthed.

- Sinister Suites Hotel of Horror
Location: 132 W. Solomon St., Griffin, GA 30223
Pricing: $15 – $20
Dates: September 30 – October 31 (closed Monday – Thursday, except Oct. 20, Oct. 27, and Oct. 31)
Hours of Operation: 8:00 p.m. – 12:00 a.m. / 8:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. (on Oct. 20, Oct. 27, and Oct. 31)
Sinister Suites Hotel of Horror was built in downtown Griffin, Georgia in 1910. It has five stories and is 60,000 square feet. A 10% discount is offered to college students, senior citizens, and military. Tickets must be purchased at the door. Everyone must sign a waiver before entering the hotel.

- Nightmare’s Gate
Location: 4179 Vansant Rd., Douglasville, GA 30135
Pricing: $20/person
Dates: September 30 – October 31
Hours of Operation: 8:00 p.m. – Midnight (Friday & Saturdays) / 8:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. (Thursdays, Sundays, & Halloween)
Nightmare’s Gate Haunted House is constructed for adults and is not a kid-friendly environment. This haunted house is designed to be like you are walking through a horror movie with you playing the role of the actors. The experience lasts between 30-45 minutes, and there are exits along the way if it becomes too intense. There are no refunds once you have purchased tickets.
